Description
Material provided: Access to field site facilities (with technical support and/or training) and by agreement of provider and user
Unit definition: 1 week of access (several units and combination with other providers are needed for some activities)
Provider country: Serbia (the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Agriculture – FANS)
Short description: Collection of insect, animal, human or other ecological samples for studies or surveillance of vectors, WNV or other natural viruses, viromes, disease emergence and epidemics from February to September.
Specific service descriptions:
The FANS, Serbia, provides access to several specific field sampling sites with continuous endemic WNV circulation, and good series of retrospective data availability such as vector seasonality/density, WNV detection in vector and birds, horses and humans, micrometeorological monitoring. Measured and historic data could be used for modelling the climate change impact on vectors, when combined with units from AviaGis.
Also, FANS can provide “know-how“ in vectors dissecting and life table studies having the colony of Cx. pipiens biotype molestus and capacity to collect and rear wild mosquito populations.
Services offered:
- assessing One Health vector and vector borne disease surveillance system and tailored planning according to user’s needs (including vector, animal and human sampling , micrometeorological and microclimate monitoring).
- field vector, animal and human sampling to satisfy the specific experimental needs as required by the external user
- morphological vector identification
- life table experiments under laboratory and semi field conditions
- Latin square comparison of different sampling techniques/traps
