Short description: Access to field sites (peri-urban and urban) where invasive mosquitoes (Ae. albopictus, Ae. koreicus, Ae. japonicus) control programs are in place, using different approaches with Technical support. All the sites are located in the canton Ticino (southern Switzerland).
Specific service description:
Facility Access for conducting specific studies for pilot trials evaluating integrated control measures for invasive mosquito control.
Services Offered:
- Field site access with technical assistance and/or practical training for mosquito vector control interventions.
- Field study design and best practices for an integrated vector control program.
- Understanding of integrated control methodologies and when to apply them.
- Setting up traps for adult and immature mosquito stages survey.
- Quality control on larvicide and adulticides: survey of breeding sites pre and post-treatment and data interpretation.
- Identification of vectors using morphological and molecular (MALDI-TOF MS and PCR) tools.
Please note that for requesters from outside Europe the visa process can take four months or longer, so to be sure to apply well in advance of mosquito season.
