Short description: Access to field sites and laboratory facilities to evaluate suitable trapping and surveillance methodologies according to the vector species of interest. All the sites are located in Southern Switzerland (Canton Ticino). Two types of sites are here offered: wetland (Ramsar site Bolle di Magadino), and rural (lowland agricultural field). Autochthonous species of mosquitoes (e.g. Ae. vexans, Ae. sticticus, Cx. pipiens, An. maculipennis, Cq. richardii, Cq. buxtoni) are here present.

Technical assistance on surveillance of mosquitoes in rural and wetland sites
Services offered:
- Field site access with technical assistance and/or practical training for research on the surveillance of mosquitoes.
- Identification and characterisation of suitable sites for the presence of adult and larval stages of vector species in different habitats (wetland, rural).
- Larval sampling and setting up traps for adult collection (dipper, CDC, EVS, resting, gravid).
- Collection and storage of individuals captured.
- Identification of mosquito adults and larval stages using morphological and molecular (MALDI-TOF MS, PCR) tools
- Data interpretation and discussion.
Please note that for requesters from outside Europe the visa process can take four months or longer, so to be sure to apply well in advance of mosquito season.
