Provider country: Switzerland
Short description: Personalized training in detection of pathogen circulation by the deployment of sugar-impregnated filter papers (FTA cards) in rural, periurban, and urban of canton Ticino (Southern Switzerland) at the border with northern Italy. Mosquito species with different vector competence for arboviruses (e.g. west nile, dengue and chikungunya) will be collected here.
Specific description:
Personalized training in detection of pathogen circulation by the deployment of sugar-impregnated filter papers (FTA cards) in the field
Training options offered:
- Field site access with technical assistance and/or practical training for research on disease emergence and epidemics requiring setting up traps for the collection of mosquito specie and the deployment of diagnostic tools for the detection of arboviruses with user physical presence.
- Identification of mosquito species using morphological tools (adults).
- Training on the use of molecular tools for the detection of arboviruses present on the FTA cards deployed in the field and in pools of mosquitoes collected in the field. This includes viral RNA extraction and flaviviruses PCR.
- Detection of arboviruses by molecular tools (semi-quantitative RT-PCR) from the FTA cards deployed in the field and mosquito’s pools with physical presence.
