Production protocol

Rearing rooms maintained at 26°C ± 1°C and 16:8 light: dark cycle. Adults are fed using defibrinated horse blood on cotton wool in a disposable weigh boat. Eggs are hatched onto a mixture of fly larval medium (5S6Z from IPS Ltd), powdered grass meal and water (1:1:2 ratio). Larvae are reared at approx 600 larvae per litre of larval meal.
